The song was first performed live in 2005 at benefit show in Los Angeles, CA. The song would later be recorded in either 2005 or 2006.

- Album and clean versions of Rize of the Fenix were released as digital singles in 2012, however they were not released on CD and vinyl, which makes "POD" possibly the final physical single from Tenacious D.
